Kuznetsov, General Vasiliy
- Kuznetsov, General Vasiliy
1894– 1964
Kuznetsov was one of the new generation of Soviet Generals to emerge during the war, in the company of KONEV, GOVOROV, ROKOSSOVSKY, KATUKOV and VLASOV. Kuznetsov fought in defense of Kiev in 1941 and has been held responsible for this disaster by the Soviets, an opinion which left Marshal BUDENNY far too free of blame. Kuznetsov led the 1st Guards Army at Stalingrad. From 1942 to 1943 he was Deputy Commander of the Southwest Front and from 1943 to 1945 he fought in the battles of the Donbass, Warsaw, eastern Pomerania and Berlin.
